How much power out of a cam only L33?
Hey guys, I popped the 302 in my mustang for the 5th time last weekend so Im giving up on the sbf.
Im tossing around a couple ideas for my car. I found an L33 (aluminum 5.3 with Ls6 heads) at a local wreckers. How much steam can this motor make with only a cam swap, Vic Jr intake with carb and exhaust. My foxbody only weighs about 2800 (with iron 302) and is a 5 speed car. Also, do they make a bellhousing to make my T5 bolt up to this motor?
The other option is to go TH400 with a 5.3 Lm7 turbo EFI. This is going to be WAY more expensive and I want to know how it will run with just the L33.
Thanks

Between a heads/cammed 5.3L motor and a similarly heads/cammed 5.7L LS1, there is only a 30 rwhp difference based on what I've been reading on the performancetrucks.net sister site to ls1tech. I've also read that a heads/cammed 4.8L motor would peak 500-1000 rpms higher and be about 5-10 rwhp behind a heads/cammed 5.3L... There's a guy on youtube who blew up his LS1 Trans am and swap in a spare 4.8L truck motor as a temporary replacement and still got it to run mid 13s @ 102 mph. Not bad at all! Gen3 motors FTW!!!
