3 wire to 5 wire maf conversion?

3 wire to 5 wire maf conversion? I've been reading up on converting from a 3 wire MAF and IAT sesnor to just the 5 wire MAF with the integrated IAT sensor. Everyone seems to be using an adapter harness from Pace or someone else.
However I would like to know why not just cut the ends off the F-body harness and solder them onto the 5 wire pigtail?
Heres the outputs I found:

Will this work?
The 85mm maf has the IAT built in so just rewire the IAT in the air box into the 5 pin plug, you can get a 5 wire factory MAF plug on e-bay for 6-7 bucks, the color codes are the same just match and splice in. I did it, no big deal. You will need to retune.
