Default yet another 85mm MAF thread

last time around,
the conclusion was that they are good after you dyno tune afterward.
i wont tune for awhile,
im willing to take a dip now for some power later.

all i want is a damn lid.
but there is an optional lid with a 85mm outlet.
so i have to get the damn MAF with the lid, i guess.
which one is the one to get?
SLP or grannytelly?
calibrated or uncalibrated?

the reason i am kinda set on the MAF is because the guys at the top of the top 100 all have it. i realize the stock maf supports blah blah blah horsepower, but so does our lid! that doesnt mean there arent gains to be realized from getting a better one.

or, convince me its not necessary.
at least then i can focus on FTRA vs. SSRA =(

i heard maf mods are risky even after a tune..i have an 85mm slp maf and an 85mm tsp lid..i have my stock maf back on my car because it turned my car into a dog with the 85mm maf , and stock tune...and i had to fabricate a rubber "shim" to fill the 10mm gap between my stock maf and my 85mm lid. im holding onto it for now and ill try it after the tune for my new heads and cam....but from what ive heard, its risky either way...its kind of hit or miss, depending on the car...im planning on doing my first set of pulls with the slp..then putting some miles on the car..and then ill try the second set of pulls with the stock maf...and ill draw my own conclusion...300 bucks for the 85mm set up is a big waste of funds if you gain nothing from it...

I found mine used for $150. I like it and one reason I got it is I plan on going with a bigger intake later prolly the 90mm TB and LSX.

I have gone with the mods you see below, and I have not had a problem with my engine. I have surprised a lot of people in the 1/4, if I were you I would go with the slp MAF, but that is just my thought. I'm buying headers, high flow cats, and Y-pipe this summer, so I will be needing a tune. Then, we'll see how I do on the dyno. Good luck though!

What is the difference between the SLP 85mm, a Z06 85mm, and a Z06 PACE 85 mm MAF?

that is what i would like to know.
whats up with this calibration thing?

damn it!
i was told the SLP 85mm MAF is not the Z06,
but the TRUCK MAF
wtf!
whats the difference?
isnt the calibration in the car?
i thought the MAF was just a measuring tool that allows the car to calibrate?!
