Default Stock Y-pipe different on A4 vert?

I don't see many pics of stock exhaust on here so excuse my ignorance. I just got done doing the EGR mod and was just checking things out. I looked under the car at the drivers side y-pipe and noticed that the entire length up to the y itself was flat tubing instead of round. I assume that GM made it that way for ground clearance. Are all Fbodies like this? This can't be good for flow!!!

Another related question..I know the WS6 had an optional high flow exhaust. How do you know if you have that system or not? Is there an option to look for on the window sticker? It looks like aft of the y-pipe is 2.75" in diameter all the way back to the tips.

Yes They Are ALLL like that i thought it was pretty stupid to ... but hey ... the more restricted the car is from the factory the bigger the power gains you get from inexpensive mods!!! Thats the way i look at it !
