Default Ls1/LQ9 question

I need to replace my water pump. I've swapped an LQ9 into my 2000 camaro. Do both motors us the same pump, or does the LS1 have a different kind of pump that the LQ9?

Next, what is a recommended pump to go with for the LQ9 block?

If you are using other LS1 accessories stick with the LS1 water pump. It all comes back to pulley alignment

after doing a few google searches, its does look like all f-body accessories are used when the swap to LQ9 takes place. good call.

Now to decide whether or not to upgrade, or just stick with a stock pump...

Do you run the engine hard? You might want to think about that. If you do, you might benefit from upgrading the water pump.

What are the differences in cooling between electric and belt driven? I'm guessing its more efficient being that it can keep the same speed, as apposed to fluctuating with the speed of the engine? any other pros/cons?

The life span of an electric water pump is far shorter than a belt driven pump. The advantages of an EWP are that you can run the pump when the engine is shut off (staging lanes at track etc etc) and it frees up some HP from removing the parasitic drag of the belt driven pump. If it's a street car that sees decent miles annually, I'd just put a stock pump back on it. I run the stock '98 pump on my 12:1 compression motor and it keeps the it plenty cool, even stuck in traffic in 100F+ ambient temps with the AC on high.
