Convert my current Y-pipe into X/H true dual system.. using LM rear
Ok I'm just doing some brainstorming here. I have recently found a new love in a TD system with Sweet Thunder mufflers. I was looking at the TSP setup, but I'm thinking of how I can have it custom done using what I've got.
I'm running Pacesetting LT's into TSP Y-pipe into SLP Loudmouth 2. I was thinking maybe I could cut off the rear of the y-pipe and have an X-pipe custom welded into the current y-pipe. Then I'd have some pipe going into the Sweet Thunder mufflers. Possibly 2.5" exhaust coming out of the X-pipe. Custom pipe into rear part of the loudmouth catback where it goes from 1 pipe into 2 pipes above the axle. I could run two 2.5" pipes from the muffler routed into above the axle connected to the rear of the LM setup. This would still be a real true dual system.
Was looking for suggestions and general input from this thread. I could do this for less than half the price of the TSP dual system, with the only portion of real custom piping needs would be to go from the mufflers to just at the axle.. I'm thinking just running 2 2.5" mufflers. On the Sweet Thunder website, they offer different lengths of mufflers. Which one should I go with? I am also stuck on deciding between X/H pipe. I think since I'm modifying an existing Y-Pipe, I bet a H-pipe would be easier to make work, and I hear the H makes a deeper throatier sound. Which is what I like. I don't care about a 1-2hp difference it MIGHT make between the two..
Was also thinking since I already have a LM2 muffler, what if I bought another and used two LM2 mufflers on the system. Has anyone done this? I know it'll sound great, but would possibly be quieter. I think I'd be happier with the ST mufflers though.

Ok I'm thinking of this more. Maybe I'll have a shop throw a custom H/X-pipe right where the Ypipe merges, then split off with 2 2.5" pipes running all the way to the back, over the axle. and then 2 18" sweet thunder mufflers before the tips.
How would the sound change with mufflers before the tips versus in the middle of the exhaust?
