Not gonna lie, that one made me laugh a little...
You asked for peoples thoughts, now that you have it do with it what you will.
Stock motor mounts were not designed for LT's and let the motor move too much.

Wow! Thats awesome, man.

The first set I helped do, we left the Passenger side Header in place, but we had to remove the Driverside. Thankfully none of the rest of the exhuast was on the car, so it wasn't that big a deal to get the driverside out.

The following two Poly MM Installs we did with both manifolds off the car. And although, it was still a bitch to get the holes lined up for the long bolts, this method was way easier than having the header installed.

I guess if the O.P. is feeling lucky he could give it a shot.

Best of luck.

Hmm really, well maybe mine clear better??? I dont know but I also have a lot of tools from being a tech for so long that I have swivels and other things that help me get into hard to reach places.

Anyway.... OP you are going to have to realize that the stock mounts are far crappier than you want to believe lol, and allow the engine to move a lot which moves the exhaust a lot. And for what its worth I love my poly mounts, I thought I would notice a horrible idle vibration etc... but I dont notice them at all its actually smoother. BUT I did have completely shot stock mounts and I have dumped duals so I already have plenty of vibration.

Also OP I can almost garuntee that after this many years the engine is leaning down on the passenger side and when you hit the gas the motor is twisting and letting the driver side header hit the body of the car.

If you could get under the car while up in the air you could compare the oil pan to the K member and probably see the engine lean a little over to the passenger side, I could definately see it on mine before the mounts, after it sits level again and no more floor banging.

Is it the header or the y-pipe hitting? Usually its the Y right after the collector from what Ive read. My has has Hooker LT's and TSP catted Y and the motor shakes its *** off and mine dont hit...stock motor mounts 53k miles.

If its the y pipe hitting, mark where its hitting, take it off and put a dent in it with a hammer.

Saves you lots of time, money, and headaches.

I will let it rattle before I put new mounts in lol. F**** that those headers aint comn off lol. I have 2 different rattles. One is the y-pipe on the drivers side floor board and one is my cutout hitting agains the floorboard at the back. For the y-pipe im going to try and rap it with som 700 degree heat rap stuff a friend has and see if this makes the vibration on the floorboard stop. For the cutout im going to get the y part re welded a little lower. I will let you guys know if this solves it. If not than I will probably try TooLateVTECs idea. Thanks for the advice I just aint going to replace mounts now.

Being a hammer mechanic sure takes skill.

Don't be a hammer mechanic.

Just put mounts in it, not that bad to do. You will regret hammering your floorpans and/or exhaust.

I got some heat rubber rap stuff around the y where its hitting the floor board.. The exhaust was also hitting that cross over peice under the car that runs under the exhaust so I put 2 washers on all the bolts so the crossover sits lower so it wont hit and tommarow im getting the cutout rewelded. I will let you know how it goes

You act like im telling him to hammer the ****** thing so its only 2" in diameter, lol.

If you wanna spend the money and waste another several hours changing motor mounts where a simple dimple/dent will take care of the same problem, be my guest.
