LS6 Intake vs LSX Intake
Ls6 intake will do fine, but if you want to splurge on an LsX, then go ahead.
If you have no plans on tuning, then go for the smaller cam.

these are standard new product prices. If you plan on buying used or can get a discount, then you need to factor in the difference. This doesn't include peripheral costs like gaskets and/or installation, but those costs should be pretty much the same for either route. The difference is in the cost of the two intakes.
The LSX intake is definitely more expensive, but from a bang for the buck perspective on a stock cubed LS1 intake engine, it looks like a winner.
Dyno results are still coming in on the LSX though, and there aren't any track results available yet. Typical, max, and min gains may, and probably will, change. It would probably be safer to wait a bit longer, but it does look like the LSX is a winner already, even if it does turn out to be a bit less of a winner than it currently appears.

Just wanted to add, as the LSX intakes hit the market, there's probably going to be a surge in the supply of used LS6 intakes. Us LS1 owners could find ourselves with a readily available supply of cheap used LS6 intakes to upgrade too this spring/summer. Just another wrench to through into the decision making gearbox.

I think it just remains to be seen if this holds true for the LSX intake as well. The results so far have been rather inconclusive. No trend has been established.
Over reving, miss gears, back firing due to bent push rods and with the intake, parts of it had melted. No the car to my knowledge has never been sprayed or blown.
The ls1 intake had pieces of it that had melted the size of a dollar folded in 1/3's, two bent push rods, and two fuel injectors that were misfiring on #7&8. All this contributed to the problem. Since I have to replace all of this, I thought I might as well upgrade

The LS6 intake is worth about 5-8 HP on a stock engine and about 10-12 RWHP on a heads/cam engine...hardly 5 car lengths.
