That open hole is for the coolant level sensor, it has 2 small o-rings on it.

Some plug it with JB Weld or just get a old sending unit to fill it. If you car is a 99-02 you won't have one on the old radiator.

I'll be finding a old sending unit when I put my LT1 radiator in

Since I'm planning on doing the LT1 radiator, just wondering if yours fit OK and how much of a PITA it was to install.

Dumb question - what's the advantage of putting an LT1 radiator in an LS1 vehicle?

It's a little bigger (holds more coolant).

The LT1 is a little thicker than the LS1, 1 1/4" vs. 15/16"

There is a picture of the two in the thread below

Its just the useless coolant temp sensor hole. I went with the LT1 radiator when my stock LS1 developed a crack on one of the side holding tanks last December. My LS1 sensor fit just fine. If you cant find a replacement, let me know, I've got an extra one laying around. Non-working but functional as a plug.
