lol so if its thick i dont see it being a problem, like i said the wood wasnt even that hot with a 3 hour fire 
Actually, I should check the wire and make sure it's not well done first.
I haven't seen any sparks or glowing lights from under the hood at night so I think it's OK. 
BTW, if you're worried about the wire get some of this header wrap and wrap a few inches of the header tube where it's close to the wire. This stuff is great.

Also, get some of the snap straps to attach the header wrap. The straps are Summit part number THE-13002
