Default ls1 with no muffler or cats

I just about finished swaping a ls1 into my 73 vette. My questions is that. Right now I have block hugger headers then plan to run into custom side pipes . Which feed from a 3" collector then to 4" side mount pipes .will running straight pipes with no cats or muffles will it hurt the motor? Thanks

Nope. If it's not tune for the open exhaust it could run lean as ****! We did straights on a 1984 suburban we swapped a 6.0 in. A/F jumped up to like 16:1

Hell yeah, I have a friend with an older Vette, I think its a 63 or so, with side pipes, he has glasspacks, but its still extremely loud like a motorcycle. Sounds classy though...

I am running longtubes, no cats and a cutout before the muffler (basically straight pipes) and it's not hurting anything but yes, sounds like doo-doo.

Yeah they do, I took my mufflers off today to swap them and started it up with an open x-pipe and it sounded kinda nasty. It sounded nice at idle, but revved up it was loud, raspy, and unrefined. Is that the aluminum block that does that? Makes it more metallic, high-pitched, and raspy sounding?

no it's the flow dynamics of the heads. look at the intake ports on lsx heads compared to sbc or sbf heads. basically they flow like crazy

An exhaust hanger broke and then a muffler came off at the track last night. Luckily it fell off on the return lane, so I just got out and kicked it off to the side and then picked it up and put it in my trunk later. But damn did it sound good with one on and one off. Funny how it didn't sound good with both off though. Had to be real light on the throttle driving home from Cecil at night though lol.
