Very interested to hear what the PAs do to the engine height. I want to do solid MMs, but would rather not fight a fitment issue doing the header/catback install.

Sorry. Didn't mean to come off as a smartass.

You're right. With no movement, the smallest amount of clearance should be sufficient.

Spohn has a tendency not to tell you anything. That's why I stopped using his stuff and went to UMI.

IMO i think you pay a higher price for the name on the part. look at any other equal suspension or chassis part from any other aftermarket company and guaranteed it will prolly be cheaper. i try and steer clear of spohn. kinda like going with BMR over UMI, exact same thing, just one is tid bit cheaper. sorry kinda of off topic there....my bad

No idea. I can't find anything other than Spohn, not even on Ebay.

Also, bump for updates.

Aside from the PAs, I don't know of any either. I think Spohn is the only suspension company that makes a k-member that works with solid mounts, too.

If the mounts do wind up raising my engine, my car's going to get some BFH time...test-fitting my TSP duals, and I've got about 1/8" clearance on the driver's side header pipe, at the little rectangular body panel piece that runs across the car. If the engine goes up, so does the exhaust, and out comes the hammer.

Makes me wonder why in the hell the driver side header collector needs to be angled so far out away from the centerline of the car....there's nothing (at least on my car) that needs the clearance there. Hopefully the Kooks collector is angled a little better.

Just got my car back today. Engine still clears the STB fine with the solids on, and the header collectors have plenty of clearance at the floorpan. If it did raise the engine, it did so less than 1/4".

Bad thing: the shop told me that based on the welds on the mounts, they wouldn't recommend them for higher-power applications (even a decent cam). I guess you could have a good welding shop grind the welds off and re-do them if you wanted.

To the OP my thought would of been to not cut the header but take the mounts out and have them cut down 1/2" on each side and welded back together.

These aren't the Spohns, which are supposed to be pretty damned durable.

with all the complaints, why don't they offer another set that will lower the engine by say 1/2" or even a 1" drop set? There might be a market for something like that right?

I think the thing is, Spohn doesn't say the mounts raise the engine, so I doubt you'd be able to convince them to build a set that "lowers" the engine, even though they'd really be stock-height solid-mounts.

Poking around some, Madman makes a set of solid mounts, but they're marketed as race-only and are a little steeper than the Spohns.

I'll try to get a couple pictures this evening of collector-to-frame clearance, and clearance between my intake and fat man grab bar (er, STB).

Did you get a chance to take the pics of the clearance?
