alternator troubles
A few months back I put a rebuilt alternator on my car. Now I have noticed that when I get on it around 4000 rpm my lights start to dim and my alt gage takes a big dive in the -
Is my alternator bad or would a slipping belt cause this? If they test this at a shop/parts store do they spin the alternator up to a high enough rpm to see this happen?

If you idle the car and turn the light on, do they dim and the voltage drops? F-body alternators are notoriously crappy. I upgraded mine with a 145 amp truck alternator and its great now, no dimming at all.
If they don't dim at idle, I would look at replacing the belt and tensioner first to rule out the belt slipping.

those rebuilt alternators are pretty cheap when put in an f-body. They cant handle the rpms most of the time and thats why people run through them alot. You can find a truck one or I took a risk on a rebuilt one from ebay and it works flawlessly. Just stay about from duralast!
