not quite sure where it goes...
im liking my title lol but anyways i am at a loss here, i took off my instrument gauge bezel to paint it and i also took off the plastic pieces that go around the turn signal and the tilt for the steering wheel. i have been having to drive the car around until the pieces are dine but when i was driving the other night i went to put my headlights on and the high beams were stuck on. upon inspection there is a small black plastic piece that is supposed to be attached to a metal rod and the turn signal, so when you click it towards you it slides this black piece and the rod pushes forward initiating either the low or high beams. now my question is does anyone know how the hell this plastic piece stays in place????? everytime i try to keep it in there i just falls out and i dont see where it snaps to.
here is what im talking about:
this is the plastic piece
this is the rod

That bit you are holding in your hand goes in the left side of the steering column and controls the high beams like you guessed but it doesn't snap in. The piece merely sits in a channel in the column and is held in by the outside trim that you removed. I've had a few columns apart and I could show you quicker than tell you where it goes. I'll look for an exploded diagram of the column I used to have and scan it.
No, it isn't broken and yes it's supposed to be covered with grease.
