Default CAI and IAT?

Whats everyones IAT while using a CAI kit?
Iv read that IAT with a CAI kit is actualy higher vs useing their stock SS hood.
Anyone have any real #s and stats to look at?

That's my info, not like I published a peer reviewed
scientific report or anything.

But before CAI I was seeing only 5 degrees above ambient
(the Walgreen's sign) with the SS hood and after the CAI
it would be 10-15 degrees higher. After I hacked the CAI
and made it draw from above the divider panel, back to
<5 degrees.

Just look at the thing. 2" (or less, at the top) away from
the radiator / condenser. With fans off, the airflow is
backwards because the heat wants out and air expands.
Sit there with the hood closed at idle for a bit, and
touch it. Put your hand up under there and feel the
air you're going to be sucking in, to heat-soak the
IAT.

Sure, once you're rolling fast the air will cool down.
Your IAT will take a few seconds (or tens of, depending
on where it sits in the tract) to follow and quit pulling
timing. You got a few seconds to wait, in the 1/4?

I'm much happier with hot starts, now that the IAT is
out of the engine bay entirely.

But the CAI plus trans cooler was a real radiator airflow
blockage besides. Both now relocated.

I bet I could find those way-old posts if I dug. But that
was when I had a Predator bungeed to my steering
wheel, for a scan tool. So it's all just anecdotes.

Thanks Jimmy very helpful! As a matter of fact your olds posts are ones that I have read. Maybe I didnt see all of them but I did see some.

Hmmm. CAI actualy making the car suck hotter air. I just took the ssra off the car 2 days ago. While the SS hood is not the best fuctioning hood I do believe it is absolutly functional. My IAT drops 10 degrees real fast when I get moving. I believe those with a ramair hood are better off trying to make the hood more functional or even opening up the nose for cooler air if they wanna keep the radiator/condensor efficiency. But I guess those without a raimair hood its a little different.
So when we are sitting in the staging lanes idling its gotta be better to not have a CAI on the car if IAT are hotter vs stock SS hood.
