Default magnaflow cat back ??'s

ok, just installed a magnaflow cb on my 02 ws6 m6, and as the instructions say, i disconnected the battery for the install. so heres the problem, after install, i reconnected the batt. and started the car. it ran like **** for a min or 2 then seemed liked it cleared up. Then after letting it run for about 10 or so min, i went for a ride, and the car felt like it was falling on its face, not the same umph it had before the install. so is this normal?? Also thought i would have ended up with a slightly louder tone with the magnaflow. so any ideas or help or advise
thanks

ok, just thought i would update on the magnaflow, just installed pacesetter cc long tubes, and ory. This really woke the beast. sounds great!! I was a little worried with the magnaflow and stock manifolds cause it wasn't what i was looking for, but now, holy **** what a difference! so, gona put it on the dyno at rpm in garner this monday and get it tuned to spray 150 i hope. what do you think it will put down?

^ he said a catback. it has nothing to do with O2 sensors. that sounds sick man! i didnt know they are that loud! are you running LTs and ory or wt? as for the smoke, i believe its normal to smoke for the first time...could it be in your mind thingy? may be the higher tone made it feel slower lol i felt that when my car was crazy loud. good luck.

A cat-back alone would not cause any issues like that.

Ahhhh, I remember my magnaflow, first mod I ever did.

It will get a bit louder as the muffler breaks in. It sounds nice. Also the smoother transition of the flow will make the power seem smoother which sometimes to some will also make the ride feel slower (not as jerky or torquey....imo). Take it to the track and compare.

My car felt like a dog after installing my magnaflow a couple years back. After the catback broke in, it got much louder and the car felt stronger.

Give it time to break in, it will get a little louder. It's pretty tame at cruising speeds, has a nice idle to it, and my friends tell me it's pretty loud at WOT when I pass them. My car is a DD and I want to tone down LT's once I add them yet still allow the car to be loud when I get on it.

As for the car falling on its face, I didn't have that problem. Drive it a little and see if it clears up. I added the Magnaflow with a lid and didn't notice much of a difference other than sound.

it might take the computer time to relearn after disconnecting the battery. My friend had the same problem. After the computer relearned, the car returned to normal

Half the time the directions say to disconnect the battery, you don't have to - it's a liability thing on their end.

Is the car throwing any codes? Can you get it scanned to check for any stored codes?

Try driving it for a couple days...ECU probably needs to relearn a little bit since you unhooked the battery. You could also double-check to make sure you didn't inadvertently pull any wires out of the front O2s swapping exhaust setups.

The sluggishness must be from the disconnect the ecm is having to relearn fuel adjustments, etc. Just keep it driving and it will clear up.
