Average RWHP for a FULL bolt-on + H/C/I LS1?

Sorry for the confusion, but "just" is a bad word to throw in a sentence when you mean 'and.'

And so I learned something new today! You have to see where I'm coming from in terms of someone saying, and I quote specifically; "With just a cam and a LS intake they have about 400-415rwhp." That to me doesn't say bolt-ons, even if it should mentally.

Your friend sounds like he has a long way to go and needs to back off on the "Ls1 is almighty" trip. The platform is one of the best, if not arguably the best, but the ls1 is starting to become a bit more dated.
"Cam only" is a cam and supporting bolt ons (intake/exhaust/etc).... It is just taken as granted here that is means that, not necessarily literal term. I hardly ever see any body say I have a H/C/I car, usually just H/C (even if they have a ported FAST 102 setup.
I would like your friend to post up though to see what he has to say to us.... See if we know what we are talking about.

400-500. It takes the right combo to get 500rw out of an n/a h/c/i/e setup. Gotta have the right parts and a deep pocket. And contrary to popular belief that 500rw mark was NOT reached with a HuGe cam. It was a moderate grind.

^ Yeah.. With the technology and these crazy lobes now, you don't need 478367* degrees of duration and 3.900" of lift to get good flow and good power.. (being sarcastic with the numbers, obviously) A well engineered 232 duration cam with .590" or .600" lift can do that. Or even a 228 duration with .640 lift. Good heads help too. SLIGHTLY more duration than that is fine too.. just not squeazing the LARGEST CAM POSSIBLE into the car and expecting these huge gains.

I feels theres no way to really tell...I always compare the middle ground...420-430rwhp seems to be the majority with a H/C/I swap. Some people claim that with cam only (BS I say).
Those guys that see more in the hood of 450-475hp are either running wicked set-ups with AFR heads or they are BSing..
There are stroked LS3s out there with FAST/LT/Cam and make 500RWHP....SO I would have a very hard time believing anyone who has that much power N/A on 346 cubes. Not saying impossible, but very far and few...
You will see people boast fake dyno numbers...Only the track will tell.

LS1 car I personally worked on and tuned made 417 cam only. After Cartek heads(ported stock ls6 heads) and ported FAST 90 intake and retuned it made 465. The cam was a conservative 228-230 duration.
Now IF it would have had a high 230/low 240 duration cam, ported FAST 102, 1-7/8 headers, a pulley, electric water pump, then I have no doubt it would be knocking on the door of 500 rwhp, 480+ anyway.

Getting close to 500 rwhp is possible, but not avg.
My car dynoed 461 rwhp with full bolt ons and a trickflow 515 top end kit. 228/230 cam, cnc trickflow 215 heads, fast 92 all going through an m6 and a 3.90 geared moser 9 inch. Not sure what I lost with the 9in vs stock 10 bolt. 10 rwhp maybe, or more? My cam isnt radical by any means, but another 39 rwhp to get to 500 has me thinking the cam needed to do it will be more radical than I'd like and won't be avg by a long shot.

At 43 I'm probably older than a lot of guys on here and I remember back when I was a teen and a 14 second street car was pretty fast and a 10 second car was race only, a full on trailer queen. Coming back into cars now it's pretty cool to see how the technology has progressed as well as the sharing of good info. I have an LS1/T56 stovepiped into a Datsun 280Z and while I've done all the work it really wouldn't have been possible without sites like this and the good info and ideas that are passed around.
To the OP, this is a really good thread, especially to someone like me that is willing to listen and learn and not buy into the 'magic' cam, intake, fuel additive, or headlight that makes eleventy hundred whp.

Not sure, but make sure you use ALOT, so you can get all the horsepower you want.
