Default FTRA Kit.....does it really works ?

Hey Guys,
I'm currently looking at buying a Fast Toy Ram Air Kit within the next week or so. Currently ,I'm just running a free ram-air set up . Fast Toys claim that their kit will improve my performance over the free ram -air mod. is it really worth the money ? how much of a gain have you guys seen in your performance ? Thanks for any advice in advance.

The gains will be there but it is hard to really measure them. Some claim to have shaved time off of their quarter but who really knows that they ran consistently to tell the difference. FWIW my SLP version leaves a nice dirty streak accross my filter. That certainly makes me believe it is sucking up alot more of EVERYTHING including colder air. If you are serious about wanting a RAM AIR effect, I would get the extension to the FTRA. I believe it is called the SSRA. That one is probably the most effective b/c of the extremely low inlet, and the inlet's direction is straightforward and not pointing down like most others. If you have a car that runs hotter than most I would stay away from this mod, it will block and steal some of your radiator's cool air.

I prefer the FRA (free ram air), no blocking of the radiator and a larger area for air to be forced in from as opposed to that thin 2" x 10" slot (albiet it's probably a more controlled forced air approach).
Regardless of which way you go I do truly believe it works (at speed) though.

Its a proven mod. Most people claim a .1 to .2 improvement in the qtr. The real part of that is they get a 1.5mph increase. That mph increase is pretty convincing IMO.

Also i got mine used for $75, so yes its worth it.You might want to look for one used if your short on cash. The go for $100-125 most of the time. After you buy it and install it you will understand How it works.

I too got mine for $75 used, its definately worth it IMO especially if you can get one cheap. picked up a little over a tenth and 1.5 mph.. the filter gets alot dirtier, but that just means its working.

i noticed a minor difference, which on a 400hp~ car any butt dyno difference is a good one. I might modify mine to open up more at the bottom to cram more air in there if i can
