Default Is 160 T-stat worth it?

I have a 2001 Trans Am WS6 M6. I already have a lid and GMMG. I am going to be putting in Jet Hot LTs, Jet Hot Catted Y pipe, ASP Crank Pulley, LS1 Hotcam. Do you think the 160 T-stat would be worth putting in? What other mods do you think would be ideal to put in also? I am trying to get this all done at once. Thanks a lot guys!

As long as you change the fan settings at the same time it might be worth something. I never noticed much difference between the stock t-stat and the 160*.FWIW.

My 160* stat and fan adjustment solved my detonation issues...so yes, it was worth it.

i logged lower temps with efilivev6. The car was tuned for lower T-stat. I see a cold heatsoak of about 185ECT max, and less when moving at fast speeds.

this is cooling than stock, whether it helps, can't say. I'd go for a "fan always on" switch for the track if i were drag racing, but you don't wanna push your car too far into cold start mode.

I haven't noticed any significant change from it
(Hype-tech '160' = 175F coolant temp) relative
to my stocker (194F coolant temp). I run fans
with low speed below stable idle coolant temp
and high speed just above. Still need about the
same amount of PE to suppress spark knock.
The stock radiator has a harder time holding the
lower temp on hot days, but manages.

All in all I'd say just set the fans properly and
save your money. My "ping limit" seems to be
set elsewhere.

I think the consensus is its not worth it. You can lower the temps on the fans with the stock thermostat and see lower temps.
