Default URGENT - starter dragging

I did the battery relocation. I just ran a power from battery to auxiliary post and then the alternator and starter to there. When trying to start the car it draggs like the starter doesn't have enough to turn over so I give a little gashand it starts. Well it popped the inline fuse. Would just running a power wire with inline fuse from the positive battery to starter battery fix that?

Dragging means the engine has started and the starter is still engaged.

Sounds like your starter isn't getting enough current. What size cables did you run from the battery? How did you get ground (-) to the engine block from the battery? What inline fuse did you pop?

It takes careful planning to get a battery to work properly from the trunk. Sounds like the starter isnt getting enough current. good luck

I just decided to run a wire from the battery to the starter.

Alright. I have 0ga going from the bat + to auxillary post. then 0ga going from battery - to chassis. stock wire from alterntor to auxilary post. then I have 4ga going from starter positive to bat +. before running the 4ga from the starter to battery it was just ran from auxillary post to starter. While wired like this it would semi turned over but struggle so i would have to peddle the gas and it would finally start. I figured my issue was it not getting enough power. Yesterday i went and got 4ga and ran it from the battery + to starter +. I had an 80amp inline fuse and it popped the first time, replaced with an 100amp and popped again. I thought since the factory did not have an fuse from bat + to starter I wouldnt. It turned over a couple times and I thought i was good. Unhooked it and made everything neater and now it doesnt even seem like the starter is turning over. Its a powermaster starter and has been on for around 15k miles.

I have checkede my fuses in the fuse box under the hood. I have takena volt meter to the wiring and I get around 12volts right at the starter power. I get 12 volts at the auxiliary post too.

I think I'm following you here.

First, you should have at least a 200 amp fuse in the line from the battery to the starter.

Second, you need a heavy gauge cable from the chassis (body) to the engine. I think this is causing your slow start. Test it like this: Take a good set of jumper cables and use both clamps to go from battery negative to the engine block.

Solid heavy metal, bare metal. As if you were jump starting the car.

Somewhere, you have a poor connection, path or too small a cable for the power to get to the starter.

How well charged is this battery?
