Default Cutout placement and how it affects sound

I'm looking to put a cutout on like the one below and was curious if anyone had any experience with this setup. Does it affect the lope sound of a cam to put it further back? This is a little further back than most people put them. Anyone have any sound clips with this setup on a cammed LS1 with an ory?

Stole this pic from jimmyblue's post...

That is about where I put mine. I think it sounds insane and loud as **** (I have no cats). It's a straight shot out from there, so I bet it actually flows better in that position than the spot most people use...and there's less chance of starting the grease fire (for those who arr members of the leaky pinion seal brigade lol).

No clips, sorry.

As far as sound probably not to much of a difference. Most people probably put it right before the rear end because its far enough away from the driver and passenger to where you wont feel a tone of vibration. Especially in a Cammed Car

When I had TD's dumped I put dual cutouts after the headers and it was like someone was pounding a hammer under my seat.

That might actually be better than where I have mine, which is the common spot just a little further forward under the passenger back seat floor board. The problem with where I have mine is that the exhaust bounces off of the floor board, which I think is why it makes the car rattle so bad when it's open. Could probably be fixed with a turn down, or by placing it as in the above pic. It will be loud, and you will be able to hear the cam.

Well, my Borla isnt exactly that cutout, but this is my Borla with the open plate, 224 cam. Location is the same, but instead of it dumping under the car, it just goes out the pipe.

Nice....

That's what I wanted to hear. I'm a little paranoid since I put cats on it. They cut the sound in half, alot of the lope of the cam, and seemed like 30hp. Pulled them off, gutted them, and welded them back. I guess that's what I get for buying a set of cheap ceramic cats off ebay.

Thanks for the replys, now to save up my lunch money

LOL, sounded a bit like a tractor towards the end -- not too appealing like that full-time -- I would get an electric valve.

a cutout bypasses the muffler and gives a freer flowing exhaust. that and it tons of fun to open it up next to ricers and let your motor roar!!!
