Default Msd wires not clicking

Hey guys, my msd wires are not "clicking" anymore when pushing them on to the plugs. Should I get new ones? Why does this happen?

if you look straight into the wire clip you will see that the wires can be crimped just a bit. they open up due to when they are been removed people have the tendicy to wiggly thema they are pulling on the wires which will open them gradually untill the "clicking" noiseis no longer heard/felt. all you need to do is crimp them just a bit or again until you har/feel the click.......

Put a dab of vaseline on the end of the spark plugs and try again.

What not to do...

Vaseline or other petroleum products will eat away at the silicone in the boots and cause other issues..

If you want to use some sort of grease to help get the wires on and off the plugs, use something that is specifically made to be silicone friendly.. Like dielectric grease or some other silicone based product. Hell, even silicone grease will work. Just dont use petroleum based products in or around silicone unless you want to destroy it.

Ok, dielectric grease is silicone based, I will make a note of using dielectric grease instead of vaseline.

The engine can get oily, I'm sure the MSD wires are designed to function in this environment... but your point is noted.

^ LS engines don't get oily. If they're leaking, there's something wrong.

Try pushing the wire back into the boot. Improperly pulling the wires off pulls the terminals too far up into the boots. Listen for two clicks when putting them back on, both the plug and the coil

Same thing happened to me, the 1st year and a half I had my car I did most all the bolt-ons so I had my plug wires off atleast a dozen times, and then they wouldnt snap anymore all last year and I was having very inconsistent 1/4 times. I finally hooked a gynesis scanner up to see what it was, I had numbers in the 02's,MAF that were off a little, and I knew they were fine so I pulled the plug wires out and tested every one with my FLUKE meter to check the ohms and 3 were not getting a reading, all others were 29-50ohms, I looked closer at them and the 3 bad ones only were hanging by a "hair" in the plug side boots, the electrodes were bent so much they broke and I couldnt believe it, I called MSD to ask them what I should do and they sent me 3 brand new within days so I cant talk bad about them, I did put the GM OEM wires back on because all 8 read 290-300 ohms everytime. Its not as low as MSD's but I always go for consistancy.
