Intake cleaning question I just purchased a ls6 intake from the site and this thing is filthy. I noticed that it has a sensor of some type. Can this part get wet.I really need to clean this thing. Also what can I clean this with?
^ Watch out with carb clean on the plastic intake. You could stain it white.
The only sensor that should be on there is the MAP at the back of the intake.. Comes off easily. Just take it off and you can go to town cleaning and not much will hurt the intake. (Just no HEAVY abrasives)

Gently bend the little tab back on top and the pull the sensor up out of the hole.
I used Simple Green to clean out my high mileage, oil soaked LS1 intake recently. I soaked it in a rubber maid tub overnight and washed it out the next day and it came out spotless. I also used a long wheel detailing brush I picked up at HF. It's about 12" long and round like a bottle brush. It let me reach all the way into the plenum from the intake runner to scrub.

I actually saw a GREAT thread about that stuff.... suppossed to be better than the seafoam. Went to Dodge dealership to get it (in the SS... got lots of odd looks from the MOPAR guys) and they told me it was back-ordered for at least 3 months.
