Default Hey you running those ebay headers...

Hey everyone looking at getting some ebay stainless headers. Wondering what you did about the y pipe though because most sets I am finding are for just the headers. Not looking to spend too much seeing as how the headers are under $200. I am looking to run a catted y off the set sold be ap1ap2, or do you recommend a different seller also? If you could let me know about fitment issues you had with the different types/sellers that would be awesome.

My set for my LT1 fit just like any other header, but the Y was a royal pain in the ***.
It had to be cut just to fit, and it still leaked after clamping. I wouldn't buy one if I had the choice.
That said, I am planning on getting another set of just the headers for my LSx project right now, and custom make something.
These ebay Y pipes are not worth the trouble.

I can't speak for y-pipe fitment. I was originally going to get a lsxtreme y, but that's when the seller really started screwing everybody over. I started reading up on other y's, and it seemed like a good number of people were having fitment issues regardless of brand (both headers and y). I ended up going with eBay stainless true duals, fitment was great! But then again, it came in like 7 pieces, so it was very adjustable friendly. Anyhow, I paid about $700 for my whole exhaust. And other than having one cat being problematic, I'm very pleased.

Are all the "inexpensive" ebay stainless headers essentially the same? Is one seller preferred over another?

did you guys have the y welded on or just clamp it? im guessing it would also have to be stainless to get a good weld going on it.

The ones my buddy got the y was a slip fit and clamp, when he showed them to me ( he didn't tell me they were 189 ebay headers) he was like look I got a set of kooks,I was like sweet man,all jealous lol,and got a lil closer and thought they were lpp, they looked really good, the only issue the egr tube is crap,we cut it and stuck a plate over the top,the welds looked solid, like I said 2 years his still look good, the heat gave them a lil color but nothing out of the norm, better than my rusty pacesetters,

yea i think its the way to go especially for under $200. Im trying to save money anyway i can on the build, while still putting up some nice numbers. Now if only they were to ever build that track that i have been hearing about all my life out here on long island i would be set.

For those who asked, I have pics in this thread...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ts-inside.html

Also, the only thing that was welded, was the turndown tips. Everything else used stainless steel stepped band clamps.

Here's everything installed.... https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ally-pics.html

About 2 weeks ago, I re-adjusted the whole system. I was able to set it up a little higher.

Did you buy headers similar to...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...Q5fAccessories

I am debating ordering these. I already have a full borla catback exhaust. Would you recommend ordering a Y-pipe of having my exhaust guy make one/order one? Are new O2 sensors/any additional parts needed? Seems like some great headers for the money.

I bought my ebay headers and a TSP ORY. Because of the upward angle of the driver's side header, the TSP y-pipe didn't fit at all. I had an exhaust shop do a little work on it and it's much better now. Didn't take too much and was pretty cheap, just had to change the angle of the y-pipe coming off of the driver's side collector.

Got it from Texas Speed Performance, they're a sponser here. I looked in the classifieds for about a week, but got tired of waiting so I bought it new.
