Default Alternator wire

I removed the engine/trans a couple of weeks back from my 99 LS1; when removing the alternator I had a heck of a time getting the connector off and I broke the red wire off about .125 away from the connector. Should I get a complete pigtail or is soldering a piece of wire to the remaining wire ok? My manual has the wire size as .35 red. What gauge wire is this and if I go the soldering route can this be bought at any car parts store? If I go the pigtail route am I only going to be able to go to the dealer for it?
Does this wire go all the way to the PCM or is there a junction somewhere before the pcm?

Default Recieved pigtail

Got it quick; but noticed the wire size is much larger than the existing wire; which I believe is a single strand. Is this ok to use?

Come on electrical guru's! Will the stranded wire cause more resistance than the stock single strand wire? Is this a problem?

did the exact same thing during my header swap:

-broke the same wire
-bought the same new wire off ebay
-soldered it up

Have been running it for 2k miles without any issues. Just go for it

Multi stranded wire is suppose to be better and if the wire is a little bit bigger for any work i have done in the past i would say no you shouldnt have a problem... Go forth and prosper.. good luck

the current running thru the wire is not enough to cause a problem
