Default Do I have a SLP 85mm MAF? Check it out..

Take a look at this photo, I was considering purchasing a SLP 85mm MAF but remembered I had seen SLP in red by my CAI somewhere. I'm currently overseas so I can't get a better picture, but is that a 85mm SLP MAF? What do you guys think?
Thanks
C.

Thanks man, it doesn't really matter what brand it is to me, I just want to make sure I don't go out and buy ANOTHER 85mm MAF

Yeah.. SLP = Delphi. They may have re-calibrated the MAF to work as a "bolt-on" so you won't need a tune to adjust it. Not sure though.

It's already been tuned, I have a friend that tuned it with HP Tuners, including Speed density tuning, so its good to go

If its tuned for speed density....why do you have the MAF hooked up?

Good question, I don't know squat about tuning, but my buddy that tuned my car said he did speed/density tuning.

Doing the speed density means you tune without the MAF hooked up. It gets the base tables correct.

Gotcha, hmm, not sure what he's talking about then. Maybe I didn't hear him right.

^ Unplug the MAF and see how it runs. If it runs fine, then he hooked you up with an SD tune. If it runs like ****, he didn't tune the MAF out.

That is the truck 85mm MAF. You can tall by the plastic body and 5 wire connector. Since the stock IAT is still in the lid you can go SD without changing anything under the hood. If you tune isnt SD, then you're stuck with it

Read my response above. My car gets tuned with the MAF unplugged. Everything is finalized using the computers speed density program without a MAF. Then you plug the MAF back in and go over everything once more to fine tune it. Saying you speed density tuned doesnt necessarily mean he isnt using the MAF, its part of normal tuning. Our computers can run the engine with no MAF with the stock speed density tables.

Your trying to explain VE tuning. You do that first then MAF tune.

^^exactly, volumetric efficiency. Its what the old TBI motors used to run when MAFs weren't present. I was trying to keep it as simple as possible.
