Default just got the longtubes

after receiving them i noticed a small crack under the bead of the weld on one of the AIR fittings. i'm thinking about just grinding off the fittings and tig welding a plate to cover the hole. is this a good idea? i'm removing the AIR system anyways so there is no purpose of keeping the fittings and i will have to weld them anyways. And if i remove the EGR fiting off of the header and the rest of the system will it affect performance or just throw a code?

also will that affect the rest of the jet hot coating if i remove the fitting?

is it a crack on the actual weld? or on the coating? if its on the weld, i would try to exchange them (unless youre in a big hurry to get them installed). good luck!

It is really hard to weld to those coatings. I would exchange them if they are brand new and just buy some block off plates. Better for resale value later too.

they are hooker longtubes, i bought them from a guy that used them on his car and then when he took them off the coating was coming off so he sent them back to jet hot to get recoated. the crack is just on the bottom of the weld where it looks like the weld never penetrated the header and left a very small space

My drivers side tube popped off on me when I was at the track. I had my Hookers on the car for less then 2 weeks when it happened. I'm gonna take the header off and have the hole welded up and reinstall the header.
The Hooker Headers are notorious for the welds cracking in that location.
