Ebay head studs are complete garbage
I thought I would try some Ebay ls1 head studs from 1bad71camaro on ebay. Well at 65 ft lbs it snapped, leaving only the threaded nub in the bottom of the block.
I contacted the seller, he offered to send another stud, to which I said I would like to get a refund because if it happened again it may be impossible to retrieve the broken stud. The reply was that the torque spec was 140 in lb and that I was a genius for torquing them to 65 ft lbs. I tried to speak with them on the phone, but they were the rudest people I have ever spoken with. Never buy them

Which size stud did you break? The really small top ones, or one of the bigger studs? The 140 in-lb spec makes sense for the smaller studs, but you probably already knew that they didn't get torqued as much as the bigger ones. If you broke one of the bigger ones, then it was probably a defect, and honestly not surprising considering the number of **** fasteners available out there.

I bought a set of ARP ones today, and had no problems with them at all. With fasteners you certainly get what you pay for, I was extremely fortunate that I was able to retrieve the broken stud out of the block, or this would have been pretty costly.
