Default BBK 2.5" ory

will the smaller diameter of the bbk y majorly limit the car from a performance standpoint?

Depends on your mods really. H/c car might suffer a bit. But i really doubt a stock car would see much of a difference.

Considering most catbacks are single 3" pipes that split into dual 2.5" exits then I doubt a 2.5" Y-pipe is going to flow any worse than the rest of the exhaust.

Theory is that the further down stream the restriction in exhaust flow is, the less effect it will have. So a 2 2.5" exits really are no restriction at all.

On to the question at hand, i was thinking, id imagine that most of the terrible y-merges on the various 3" y-pipes would probably hinder exhaust flow more then 2.5" pipes with the better flowing merge on the bbk y-pipe.

I don't see it holding you back on power with a stock cu.in. N.A. motor, in most situations, unless you plan on spinning the motor up to really high RPM's.

Why are people so concerned with a 2.5" y pipe when they still run a damn 3" catback? I don't get it. Dual 2.5" will out flow a single 3". I went from a 3" catback to duals that were reduced to 2.5" at the header and kept that diameter all the way back. I picked up a nice difference that I had been leaving on the table with the single 3". Unless youre making crazy horsepower it won't hurt anything.

No man your good, don't sweat it. If you were running a supercharged 427 or something I'd look elsewhere, but no, your good.
