Default How Much is too Much (Ls1)

I've been looking around for an LS1 Trans am. Havent found any in the 7k range with around 100k miles. I am looking at one though with 130k on it. Just wondering how much mileage you guys have on yours. Just a side note, I plan on some light modding and casual racing, is 130k a lot?

I've asked this same question before and pretty much as long as you take care of it, you'll be fine. Mine has currently over 150k on it.

Should be fine, I would advise to wait til you find a good deal you know for sure though, that's what I did and I'm very satisfied still

I just ran a search for you on autotrader...that's about what you'll get for 7k. A few were at 90,000 though but a long way's away....hard too tell....These cars aren't driven like minivans...I know if I were to sell mine..the last week or two would be give it hell week....hopefully it works out for you...but with 130000miles...you'll first want to spend your mod money inspecting/fixing/replacing everything that it NEEDS.

Yeah, the first course of action will be to get it checked out by a certified mechanic, that way I can get the price down based one everything that it may need . I've been looking forever though and finally have the money. I know how the whole replacing everything deal goes. Had to go through it with my current T/A.

Just becareful though...if you go to a mechanic and ask him whats wrong with it...he might "FIND" problems that don't exist for money in his pocket.

I went to the shop AFTER I bought my car and asked him to inspect it cause I was thinking about buying it...They'll treat the car alittle differently in that case/ prob. will be a bit more honest with you...good luck and have at it.

Well, I know a guy who is a respectable mechanic, done business with him for years. My mother even took all her cars to him. He knows that my dad and I do our own work anyway, and he is usually honest. This way I can use these items to get the price down. I have my eye on a car now, but finding a car with low mileage at a half decent price is a pain

I'd say don't worry about the miles so much as the condition of the car. A well cared for 100k plus car is better than a 70k dogged out car. But obviously all things being equal, the lower the miles, the better.

And do a thorough job of researching prices in YOUR area. All too often people give advice based on what cars are going for their area. I bought my 99 Z28 M6 last November for $7400 with 101k miles. Many people thought that was too high but I've continued to check prices since that time and I haven't seen as good a price since that time.

You can find some really good deals on tech also, autotrader is good but everyone thinks they have some special car that is a collector, most I see on there are way over priced,if ya saved a lil more than 7 you could maybe snag a head and cam car, some don't like buying modded cars but if ya find a good one pick it up,also ws6s and tas will run a couple grand more than the camaros, good luck man I love car shoping but it took me awhile to find mine, there is a lot of junk out there, don't rush into the first clean f body you see because there is always a better deal out there, just take a look on tech in cars for sale, also if you don't really know what your looking for I'm sure ya could find a member in your area that can help ya out, good luck man,and God bless

Like everyone said, wait till you find what you want at a good price. There's nothing that'll leave a lingering bad taste in your mouth than knowing you could've gotten a car you liked better for less money.

BTW, I found a 6-speed '00 Z28 with 52k miles in the classifieds here a few years ago. Paid $6500 for it

exactly 130 487 miles on mine today. got it since 90K had to replace water pump and fuel pump thats it. window motors were already dead tho i just hate those motors! if you look at the car you can never guess it had all this milage! specially the interior lol anyway if i had to do it again id honestly just go ahead and build mine. or get the cheapest and cleanest high milage you can find then do a cam swap along with oil pump timing chain and maintain it. that way you will have fun fast, reliable and cheap car
