id get a 92mm... my ls2 feels alot better in the lower range with the 92 than it did with the 102mm tb BUT if your looking to squeeze every ounce of hp/tq out of ur motor id go with the 102.

only 92mm that will fit is the fast 92mm... or a stock ls2/ls3 dbw tb.

this is what happens when you use a nick williams 92mm

and the fast 92mm

As mentioned before, for your drive by cable setup I would use a FAST 92 and the Vring. For drive by wire a stock LS2 TB.

Good info for the most part here and just know that too much TB can hurt the low end and tip in quite a bit and even cause a loss on top.

I put my calipers on my VMax ring and was suprised to find it's not the same thickness on both ends. You would think it's just a sleeve but it's not.

Yes back from the dead but that's what happens when you use the search function. Just got a ported FAST 102mm lsxr intake. So I'm building a 5.3 turbo motor. Thinking the 102tb is too big for those small cubes on initial tip in. Is my best option the fast 92tb and the vmax ring or is the ring not necessary with that tb? Would it be too hard to tune the 102mm tb?

I've got a ported 102 by Mamo. Didn't want to spring the coin for a 102 TB so I had Tony also port the LS3 TB. Added the velocity ring as many have said it helps the transition. Supposed to make tip in and tuning easier. Tony confirmed and for the money I didn't feel bad about the purchase. If it was snake oil people have spent more for worse.

I just buttoned my build up yesterday. Will be working the tune with Pat G over the coming weeks as break in is complete. Then I'll get on a dyno.

Bottom line I've heard good things and some very reputable folks recommended it. For the price I paid no complaints. Only way to know for sure though is a before and after comparison but my build is a totally new engine so can't give that. Car is running pretty good so far though.

ERL 427, 11.5:1, TFS GenX 255, FAST 102, etc. all motor with road race friendly cam.

Yeah I am chomping to see some numbers but really just want to get back on the track. Two year hiatus is killing me. I'll be posting update to my build thread as things progress.

On the V Ring, I forgot Mike Norris was another one recommending it. Also a lot of guys on Corvette forum reported good results as well.

Definitely a revived thread :-) Like others have mentioned, a nice aid to the 90mm to 102mm transition. Glad to see good results from folks.

I have them in stock if need be and thanks.
