From what I understand, it's LT's or GTFO on our cars.

Here is my experience and this was done on an engine dyno. I made up a set of short-mid length headers because I wanted to try exhaust expansion chambers on my Third Gen. There is virtually no place to put them except one area and that called for shorties/mids. I bought a program called PipeMax and used it as a guideline to build them.

On to the engine dyno. The results were the long tube dyno headers made more power below peak torque and on my motor that was 5000rpm. Above peak torque 5000 rpm to 6500 rpm and peak power there was on average only 1 horsepower difference and that favored the long tubes.

IMHO it depends on the construction of the short/mid length headers.

Talking

My biggest concerns were ground clearance and losing the cats (for Lean Cruise tuning)... so I bought some used Mufflex cat deletes to achieve a little better flow and maintain the ground clearance that would be lost with LTs. As it has been stated the stock manifolds will flow very well on a stock motor (which mine is), especially uncorked.

In an ideal world I think we'd all have twin charged LSX 454s with LTs and true duals that got 40mpg.

Lastly, I wouldn't trust any unsubstantiated opinions from the members here, as most of those owners think a gold chain is a performance modification.

This kinda would be like asking would I get more power from a hot cam kit or an ms4. They both are close in price but one will gain you more.

Id just jump for some LTs you can prolly get pacesetter headers and ory cheaper than shorties, or if moneys not a boundry get some kooks or arh headers.
