Bigger Lid + MAF worth it on H/C/I LS1 ?
My current mods are
Long tube headers, ORY, magnaflow cat back
227/233 custom cam
UD pulley
MTI Lid with stock MAF
Stock LS1 intake manifold
My car is going back to the shop in early May for TFS 215 heads and FAST 92/92 setup.
I'm still undecided on whether I want to go MAF or Speed Density for tuning. The car is not a daily driver but I do like to drive it a lot. I want something I can drive whether its 30 degrees outside or 100+ degrees out side.
My question is, on my new setup listed above, will a bigger Lid + 85mm MAF even be worth it ? How much power would a 98mm Lid + 85mm MAF get me on a H/C/I LS1 ? Or should I just say screw the MAF and go speed density ?
Any input is appreciated.

Yeah the speed density tunes are a bitch to keep spot on. You will have to re-tune it or double check it all the time to make sure it's spot on. You will definetly see gains with a bigger lid and maf.

IMO, keep it simple with a MAF. Get a GM 85mm right before your dyno tune for all the mods... This is the reason when I got my car I made sure I bought the FTP 98mm lid for room to grow..

do you mean is the intake snout even with the 85mm tb yes, we went as far as where the gasket goes, i had to make my own gasket, i purchase a sheet if rubber/plastic gasket (whatever oem material is made out of) from my local empire hardware store and cut it out by tracing my summit tb spacer. i dont use the tb spacer any more, the spacer would act like a funnel, on side was 85mm, the other was 78mm for a smooth transition. i hated it to so we opened up the ls6 snout

Stick with the GM 85mm MAF that came of the Vettes. I got mine from Ebay back in 2007 for like $35 shipped... And just an FYI the SLP 85mm MAF is a GM maf with an SLP sticker on it
I hope you also plan on upgrading your fuel injectors as well? I bet you're almost maxed right now..

I'll see if I can find one cheaper though.
Well I have a ported 92mm with my setup so hopefully that won't be to much of an issue.

your tuner can change the parameters in the ecu to accept it
