Question Head removal question

Thinking about getting some different heads for my formula. Can the heads be removed without taking the headers and y pipe apart?

I am hoping I can do it with out having to jack the car up and remove them.

Looks like its possible but don't know if I can get to the lower head bolts with the headers still in the engine bay.

Don't have access to a garage and will have to do it in the driveway.

Thanks in advance.

You are going to have to get them out of the way. The right side will probably have to come out as the A/C evap case is right there. The left, you might be able to get by with it.

You can do it without taking them DOWN, but you're going to have to loosen the collector to get the header away from the head. Look at the front two bolts on the bottom of the heads on both sides.

Thanks Guys,

That's what I thought but was hoping someone had done it before and maybe there was a way.

^ A couple of the front bottom bolts can be a real PITA, depending on what LTs you have but it can be done,.... Yes.

Thanks bayer,

I've got American racing headers, the pipe for the EGR is close to the A/C compressor so that may be an issue.

If they gotta come out, then they gotta come out.

I will give it a shot if/when the time comes.

Thanks for the replies.

When I installed my heads all I did was unbolt my headers from the Y & the heads then lowered them to the ground but didnt take them all the way out.
