Unhappy Help with Cat Converter

I have a 1998 Z28 with a bad passenger side catalytic converter and I have a passenger side cat off of a 2000 Z28. How do i make this work? Someone told me that I can't use this because it will hit the fire wall. Is it possible to bend the pipe or make an Adapter so I can use this? has anyone else done this? I do not want to change the manifolds for reasons with the ses lights. Any help would be Great!! Thanx.

Anybody............ home..........will this pipe bolt in...I can cut my exixting Y pipe if this one will bolt on. I just don't want to drop the entire system to find out it wont bolt up to my manifold.

Not sure man....I would do one of a few things.

Get a new ORY pipe that fits stock manifolds.... www.ws6store.com

Get a new Y that has hi flow cats, same site ^^^^^^

Get some LTs and a new Y pipe.

I dont have any experience with swapping an 02 cat to a 98 car...I can say that the Y pipe from my 98 TA looks different than the one on my 02 Z28.

Looking at a few pics I don't think you can, sorry man. Certainly it could be cut up and welded in place, but for the price of that you might as well get a new Y pipe.

1998 and 1999 F bodies used tubular stainless steel exhaust manifolds; with these, the passenger side manifold down pipe runs closer to the fire wall than the later cast iron manifolds. So the person that told you that the cat would hit the firewall is correct.

What I did when the starboard cat on my car failed, was to buy the cast iron manifolds, the cats and the Y pipe from someone who had installed headers on a 2000 camaro, and installed the whole set-up on my 99. It will bolt up to the cat-back with no modifications.

It seems that the cat coverters built into the Y pipe (as with the earlier cars) do not live as long as the units bolted up directly to the manifolds.

One thing to be aware of is that the 2000 cars came with an egr provision (like the 98s and 99s) 2001 and 2002 cars did not.
