Default Best Bang for Buck Intake Manifold for LS1?

I'm thinking about swapping out my stock ls1 intake manifold for a better flowing one. I don't want to break the bank on this one because my motor/heads are stock and I figure I'd get an expensive 92mm intake manifold when I do a head/cam swap (years from now). Which intake do you think would be best going with? It seems a decent improvement can be found with the stock ls6 intake, do you think it's worth it? Also, I've seen a lot of used intake manifolds for sale.. can't imagine anything wrong with them, they just must have been swapped out. Anything wrong with getting a used one?

Let me know what you guys think. I'm going to get my TB P&P too, so hopefully this will net me a 15 HP gain.

Thanks in advance fellas!

Go to the classified parts section and get a used LS6 intake...I got mine for 275$. Just clean it and install it.

I'll second the motion for a LS6 manifold.

Simple search will tell ya the ls6 is the only way to go,for 300 bucks you can't beat it,and port your tb yourself, its very easy and you can do it for 15 bucks or less,

I say not worth the trouble of swaping to ls6 intake & your paying 300 bucks for 10 ponies max !! I say put your money else where although the ls6 shows a noticable gain in driveability !! Aint a troll here but I bought my ls6 for 15$, 300$ z too priced for my eyes =p ... Btw I wrote kind of a detailed thread on how to chop the ridges of the LS6 intake to seat well over your coolent lines under the intake. Alawi

So your saying if your sticking with stock internals its not worth it? I was debating this myself.

an ls6 intake will compliment your mods nicely after you get tuned.

I saw a rather nice gain from an ls6 mani on my car with my current mods. It felt like as much as my full exhaust and tune combined. Well worth it...

If you are already going to buy a FAST down the road for h&c, then just pick up a used 92 now. I was in your shoes years ago and decided to "save money now" and bought an LS6, only to take a loss when I sold it for my 92.
Spend alittle more now and save in the long run, do things once.

Ls6 Intake or the BBK. In your shoes, I would go with the BBK. They show gains over the LS6 intake for just slightly more. Probably about the same price if you find them both used. And DO NOT let anyone fool you into some stupid **** about it sucks because "it's metal and it will heatsoak". Those are idiots who tell you it's a bad intake because of that fact.

LS6 is by far the most popular...and used probably the best bang for the buck...I went w/ the typhoon over it basically just for the looks and I also plan on port matching it when I get Heads/Cam

Yeah the only prob I have with the ls6 is how ugly it looks. The Typhoon looks awesome.

I agree with this. Or keep an eye out for a used Fast 90mm or even a 78mm
