Is this car a 6spd or auto? I have a 6spd and I like that if I have an important phone call or a conversation with a passenger I can still hear if I keep the RPM down. But I think the sound is perfect in the power band, I do not need to let everyone in the world know I can not afford a new Vette so I am driving a 99 Camaro. If I had an auto I might be inclined to go a little louder since I could not control RPM.

magnaflow is too quite for our cars, once you let off the gas you can't hear the beautiful sound of rumble/muscle/nascar at all..you can hardly hear it...whats the point!!!!

i second that. between the two, i'd go with a flowmaster. although i think they sound better behind a gen1 sbc, i'm not crazy about magnaflow.

now if i was starting fresh, i'd get an aerochamber catback. those sound great.

You obviously don't know squat about exhaust systems.

I started a thread about my car being to quite with Lt's ory and magnaflow I was wanting to switch to a mufflex catbackor have a shop fab it up for me. But now I'm just gonna throw a type of bullet muffler on there with a turndown on it and keep the muffler and tips for when I just wanna cruise..... and maybe throw in a cutout lol

Not sure why people are getting all butt hurt off a quiet exhaust..

I think its pretty hilarious that magnaflow is "Loud"..

OP, no doubt the magnaflow might perform better than flowmaster. I just dont want you to be disappointed after time, money, effort on just swapping a muffler and its quieter.

I would rather have a good sounding car that an obnoxiously loud one, but some people just like to heard from miles away I guess lol

Thats true man. Im not tryin to get into a pissing match. Like i said magnaflow is a good catback. I didnt have any fitment, or quality issues. It just was kinda disappointing how quiet it is. Even after having it for almost 4 years i dont think it got broke in and got a bit louder like some people think.

If i ever got a catback again, i would definitely opt for hooker catback. Might be just as loud as magnaflow is at idle and cruise, but it has a more deeper, rumble, muscle sound to it.
