update*** it does it have front o2's so nvm on those posts about it not having them, but i took it back to clay city ran open headers with 20'' extensions that turned down and out to the sides at a 45 degree angle...sounded great and ran great. if your going to run open headers put at least a 18-22'' extension to keep your scaving up and keep your torque curve lower.

It's bad for your o2s and if you have anything in your car that will rattle, it will rattle loose. I ran my lt1 open header for like a week or two, very loud, can't drive long without getting a headache honestly.

well like i was saying if you dont put any extensions on there then it moves your torque curve farther up the rpm range and you do loose low end TQ due to over scavenging, but when the extensions are put on it allows enough room for proper scavenging with no backpressure there for retaining TQ and increasing top end HP by around 15-20 going from a full exhaust with mufflers...BUT I DONT RECOMMEND this for street driving because it does get a little annoying, i made me a custom set of 20'' turndown extensions to run at the track to shave a little weight off and reduce the backpressure some, i had a really good gain from it

Back from the dead.

Not exactly open headers, but what about open cutouts 12 inches or so after each O2 sensor? If you have a stand alone tune for open cutouts and a separate tune for when they are closed, I don't see how you risk damage to the O2 sensor if the correct tune is used?

The damage comes from reversion of fresh cold air against the heated sensor. Not from the tune being off.

Any reports of dead O2 sensors caused by having cutouts located 12" or less from the sensors? I wonder how the O2 sensors held up on these systems:
