Still haven't seen proof that the 1 7/8 is worthwhile overall for <500 RWHP -- sure seems you would suffer on the low end.

When I say proof, I really think the test would have to be with say ARH Headers & Y and the rest of the car unchanged except for say an SLP FlowPac and this same car dyno'd on both 1 3/4 & 1 7/8.

Yeah, but even the merges on a lot of Y pipes look like garbage. You'd think they could at least put something nice on there.

Looks like the y merge that lsxtremeperformance used to make. That's the one I had picked out if I didn't go true duals. I checked their site last night, and they're shut down

Just sucks b/c they actually made a really good Y pipe.

Not to Hijack the thread but this has been done. It is proven that an 1 7/8 header will pick up power on a close to stock motor in the higher RPMs and match it in the lower.

Nice looking y-pipe, keep us posted if it picks up the power you were talking about!

I just wanted to add a pic of the flowmaster and magnaflow mufflers I'm running......

I'm finally going to the dyno Monday and the changes are..this exhaust, fast 102vs fast 92, and +4cc pistons...so compression is up .4 from 11.0 to 11.4

Last dyno run was 451 rwhp 380rwtq through an unlocked vig 3600 converter 4l60e 3.73 12 bolt

Are you dumping it, as in the Flowmaster straight into the Magnaflow, or running it out the back?

Curious to see results.

So far no rasp, it sounds really deep...almost like an old school big block.

The setup is dumped right at the axle...from inside the car its not to loud at all, I can still listen to my radio and cruise at 70 no problem. But from the outside it juist seems like there is a big cubed motor under the hood pounding the ground.

There was more rasp with the factory catback setup.

That looks IDENTICAL to the inside of my Hooker MaxFlow muffler.

All the power and half the sound....works great for roadtrips and when I have to get her inspected...otherwise too damn quiet.

Sorry man I was being sarcastic. It's funny because it's the most used word on this forum. And to top that ppl rag on catbacks mostly slp for being "raspy" and to use a different catback to mask the problem instead of correcting it like you have done here.

Video with sound clip on the dyno to come Monday...in the upper rpms you can still tell its LS!!! My car revs and makes power to about 6,800, and my rev limiter is set to 7,200, so we will get a good sounds range throughout the rpms. I should also have a print out of my old dyno and this new one...

If you need/want a shorter Y-merger consider a one from Vibrant Performance, they're a work of art!

That one looks pretty good also, I think I want to do a setup like this for my truck also...The good merge seems to add some low end and midrange TQ..that will be good for my heavy truck with tall tires
