Default Should I keep my stock catback for headers

I have a 99 SS and am about to pick up the BBK longtube kit (chrome), and really want a louder more aggressive exhaust.

I would like an exhaust between stock ss and loudmouth noise level.

My question is will the headers and ory make the exhaust much louder? Or what catback would be good for an exhaust louder than stock slp but not stupid loud.

Thanks

Headers and ory will open up even a stock exhaust. If you drive the car a lot I would keep the stock catback and get an electric cutout. That way you can the wide open LM sound when you want and quiet when you want.

I would at least put a mild muffler in it...you want to hear the money you put into it!

At least a magnaflow/Hooker

The stock muffler unless it's the dual/dual is super restrictive and would want to replace it with a better one.

I wouldn't call it louder, but a bit more pronounced, deeper, bassier sounding. Just go with full exhaust, even more gains in power to be had.

if you run the stock cat back you may be restricting the full hp potential of the headers and ory. it may not be much but i personally would at least put in a muffler that flows better than the stock one.

Magnaflow with headers is a good way to go to keep it from being too loud. I've had LM1 and a Corsa and they were both very raspy and unrefined. Its fun at WOT but after about 2 hours of driving it you will hate it. I say get a magnaflow, stock is junk.

Thanks for the responses, i may just have a magnaflow welded in because im on a tight budget.

What is the SS catback called that isn't the dual dual? It does sound good and is pretty loud for a stock exhaust, just not enough.

Perry, the Hooker C/B is the way to go, i have it with no cat LT's and it is very quiet when cruising the interstate and highways and has a nice no rasp performance sound when under hard acceleration

Did you have cats with that Corsa? I don't have rasp, but I have cats. I find the Corsa to be pretty mild. It's nice and loud at WOT, but cruising down the highway at 2k rpm, it barely has a drone to it at all.

If you do an e-cutout, you can open it just a little if you want. Adjustable volume.
