Stock is 78. If I remember correctly an 85 will bolt right up.

Personally, I would just get the stock one ported.

So where does the LS6 intake start to fall off rpm and lift wise on a stock cube LS1 with 243/799 heads? Is there any info on flow numbers for the LS6 topend?

The LS6 falls off when you add anything really, for mild setups other intakes will shine above 5500 or so, more detailed setups you will start to see a lot of midrange gains

Down the road I may end up with a 4xx cid LSx, but for now I am just looking to add a little more to my nice weather DD. I have already purchased some 799 heads and LS6 intake to top my stock cube LS1. I am still researching cams, and I am looking for info on the general rpm operating range of the LS6 intake.

I gained about 1.5 MPH and 2 tenths on a SI car with that LS6 intake/ported TB over a stock LS1. If you have lots of money to burn than do the Fast and TB now-you will see improvement even on a stock car but as mentioned there are better mods even when cammed. I am really curious how much I might have gained had I used a TPIS modded LS6 intake and NW TB I missed out on instead.

Does anyone have results from a stock LS6 intake and TB compared to a ported LS6 intake and TB?

I was informed by a vendor their ported LS6 intakes are tested and flow around 14cfm over the stock LS6 intake (I'll have to go back and look up a past email to be certain of the exact numbers). But if that is true, that has to be a decent hp gain, especially on a H/C motor.

But anyways, the FAST intake is a superior design to the LS6. They're both great pieces.

Instead of porting why not pick up a used 90 or 92 setup? 350$ selling your stock stuff+money from porting would almost pay for a complete 90/90 or 92/92 setup if you were patient. Wouldn't make sense to me.

I agree...I would be patient and buy the fast set up and throttle body and just sell my current ls6 set up.

Good point, but the money spent on a ported LS6 set-up is still worth the cost. My experience, I'll have $600 total into my ported & polished LS6 intake and throttle body set-up. That's including purchase of the LS6 intake. For what I see a used FAST 90 or 92 set-up will run $1000-$1200, right?

I was told the ported LS6 set-up flows almost on par with a FAST 78. That comes from a vendor that tests and sells FAST intakes as well. The ported LS6 runners flow 12.5cfm @.600 over the stock LS6 runners. That is a pretty good gain, bang-for-the-buck if you will, for only $200. And the stock TB opening is ported to 78mm over the stock 75mm.

Point being, the cost of either set-up is worth it. For a little more money you'll get a little more power (w/ FAST). Pretty much you get what you pay for.

I think the FAST intakes are worth it. But the reason I went with the LS6 intake is because I want to keep under the hood looking as stock as possible. Otherwise I would've gone with a FAST.

I sold my ported 102 setup with rails for 1100. You can get a 90/90 setup for 700-800.

What kind of HP gains did you receive after the port & polish?

Yeah well something was up with that dyno unless you are considering a cam, a bolt on
