Default LS6 Intake Vs Aftermarket

I am purchasing a LS6 intake for my TA pretty soon, but I was wondering how they compare to the other aftermarket intake manifolds out there. I can get the LS6 for about $300 new, and the others are allot more money, are the other aftermarket intakes worth the extra money?

I have the ls6 intake myself on my ls1 and I love it, my brother has the FAST 90 on his GTO and I really thinks mine performs as well as his. Hopefully some other guys will give you the exact spec details on here. I would be interested in hearing what they have to say as well.

for the price you cant beat them i would pick a ls6 over everthing but a fast a fast will make a little more power but the cost a grand more to buy thats why my car has a ls6 on it still

IMO the only intakes worth spending money on are the LS6 and FAST intakes. Grab the LS6 for now and save the pennies for a FAST later on. The rest of the aftermarket intakes never make much more power than an LS6 intake will.

Yeah I agree for the most part. I kind of like the bbk intakes. Too bad they weigh so much.

no point in going with a FAST setup unless you have good premium heads.

There is a dyno of a 102 making 18 hp on a stock over an ls6 on here somewhere. I still wouldnt pay their crazy prices though.

At least 18hp is a decent number. I'd like to know if that was a back to back dyno though, or at least if it was done on the same one. I've read too many threads where people gain nothing or even lose hp after spending a grand on these things.

Maybe that was an 18 HP gain over a LS1, where a LS6 is like 12-15 with a tune. And I agree with you, there really is not a huge gain with FAST unless you have a high HP setup. There is only so much you can gain on a stock like car

IMO the FAST intakes should be purchased at the same time or after you get a set of heads. Heads are better bang for your buck by a long shot. The FAST is good but 30-40rwhp>15rwhp.

Oh the good life of owning a 2001 Z28..... But yea unless your making a good amount of power go with a FAST. But a LS6 is just as good to.

Yeup thats about right bud, I have the fast 90 with NW92mm TB and a lot of other mods. My friend has an LS6, TEx Magic stk 3, 2800 rpm stall and 85mm tb. He ran a 250 shot and ran in the 6.7's. his weight was approx 2800 pounds while im full weight, I ran 6.806 best time with a 1.5 60'

The Ls6 intake is a very! potent piece.
