Performance Mod Advice
So here is the deal guys, i am a college student but i have been saving my money and have between 300 and 500 to spend on some performance mods.. My 98 SS is close to stock in the performance area, i have a ported tb (stock size) and some free mods.. im looking toward a magnaflow muffler and a SLP lid for some more ponies but im not very experienced in the best bang for the buck... if you guys have any advice feel free to share! Thanks in advance

IF your SS has the SLP dual/dual muffler you aren't going to pick up any power with the magnaflow or any other muffler really. The SLP is one of the best flowing muff's out there.
As mentioned I would start out with a lid. They go for about 50 bucks used. The LS6 intakes go from 250-300. If you do that you will have to get the LS6 steam tubes or modify your LS6 intake which isn't that big of a deal.
I'd also look into a cold air kit like the Fast Toys Super Sucker.

In all honesty if I were you I would do exhaust first, since you said that you have a ported tb and and free mods so that leaves me to assume that you already have the free ram air mod if not search it on freebie mods or the search button. Then go to Texas Speed which is a sponsor on this site and purchase the TSP Rumbler catback which is one the most free flowing exhaust on the market and always compared to the SLPLoudmouth. It's not priced bad either for $250.00 and you get the whole system minus the tips which you can use your stockers or purchase some SS tips from Summit for $2X.XXea. which I did for my ride, and its fairly simple to install. Probably cost close to the Magnaflow muffler since that ain't no cheap muffler.

Heck with this catback it probably leaves you money for a used lid or maybe just maybe a new lid. Here is the link for the catback: http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=195&catid=46

if going the exhaust route I recommend getting under the car and double checking how it is set-up before you make a decision. I was about to do an ORY until I found out that the previous owner had everything welded from the Y to the tips. Had to completely change my plans.
