Default Which way to go??? Need your opinion...

I searched and read but am still debating which way to go. I recently sold my FLP setup and bought the Kook's headers and Y pipe. MY FLP Y pipe was pretty restrictive especially where the two pipes merge. Anyway, I am going back and forth. Here are my two options. I have a Spohn T/A so true duals are pretty much out, plus I like the look of the Corsa tips. I don't care about the sound of the cutouts I am just trying to see if there will be much difference in ET with 1 cut out as compared to two. When I am in full race mode the complete exhaust will be off and it will just be headers and turn downs...

1. Headers into 3" Y pipe into a 3" cut out through a Dyno Max 3" bullet and out my Corsa. I want to use the bullet to deepen the tone a little and to get rid of rasp

2. Headers into dual cutouts into Y pipe through bullet and out the Corsa. Note, since the Kook's Y pipe is flattened just a bit for clearance, it will make it more difficult to get the cut out on the drivers side installed. If anyone has done this, please show me a pic.

can you go with option 2 and run an extention of pipe off the collector and then add a cutout to the Y where theres that little extra space under the drivers side seat. it would mean a bit of custom work but i dont see why it couldnt be done. also where is the Piping flat on the kooks ORY, the Catted Y doesnt have any flat spots, couldnt you also do a setup like the kooks catted Y and just replace the cats with cutouts?

I need a pick of their catted Y to compare. The Off-Road pipe id flattened a bit about a foot off the collector. I probably could make it work but I would have to go right off the collector with the cutout. They have the Y pipe tucked up there pretty tight on the drivers side. Th pass side is no problem at all. If the performance difference is going to be minimal, I will just use one cutout in the Y pipe.

How bout this...

1. Have the car dyno tuned with your current setup, then change the cam without running the car at the track to see if the tuning helped!!!!

just kidding dude...wish I had an idea for ya.

I am not putting that cam in until I run the current setup for a while. I needed the headers because my FLP Y pipe was choking it pretty good. We can try that cam in yours if you would want. It showed up at my house today. I could have it installed in less than 3 hours... The actual specs aren't that big 242.5/249.9 .608/.612 +2. You know you want to whoop up on Dean...

Are you saying the Kook ORP y-pipe is flattened somewhere on the y-pipe?

Yep, under the drivers seat area where they usually hit the floor board. Not really flattened but lets say oblong for clearance.

It looks the same except for the cats. You can see where it is flattened just a bit from the back of the drivers side cat to the bend and half way down that pipe.

When you order a Kooks stainless setup like the one above is the y-pipe stainless or mild steel?

Tileman couldn't beat his meat let alone win a drag race. Just put that T-Rex in my car then I'll take you for a ride in a really fast car.

Let me know, I don't plan on installing it until at least middle of May. If that is too big we could always try the 236/240 .602/.608 112 +4 that is in my car now whenever I do the swap. That TR224 is beginning to seem to be pretty small huh...

Dean, quit your . Tileman is going to be opening up a can of Whoopass on you in the very near future...

Ok on a serious not are we all planning on going to the F-Body Shoot out in MIR on April 3rd???

I would love to go....But I don't think Dean can go, he is going to race wars with Johnny Tran, Dom Torretto, and Mark Roberts (the kid with the white Supra) to race his Neon and talk about turbos and NOS.

The Kook's Y pipe is 3" and is 3" at the merge. It's pretty big. The FLP is 2 1/2" pipe into a 2 1/2" merge. It should have been a 3". At high rpm, it is a bottle neck.

We'll go then. I might shoot down for a Saturday Test and Tune in two weeks. I want to get my Wolfe Swaybar welded in first. Speaking of NOS, did you ever sell that kit you had?

Default I am seeking a 3" custom oval intermediate pipe to existing muffler

I am going to my favorite muffler man tomorrow to try and fix a very similar problem. I bought SLP LongTube Headers, and when I did so, I specifically asked for a 3" y-pipe. I have had some health problems so I had another shop put the things on. I just learned SLP's y-pipe merges two 3" into a single 2 3/4" outlet! WHAT INSANITY!!! THat defeats the purpose.

So, I will go ask him to custom make a 3" oval pipe pipe and do a little cutting and welding. Of course, I need to find a different muffler, and also IF he can "mandrel bend an oval pipe". Does anyone know if this can be done?

They told me on the phone they could open up the intlet end on the existing SS muffler. Frankly, I want something just a bit more aggressive in sound, but since I love Hot Rod Power Tours I hate the 2200 rpm drone! Should be a challenge but I will report back.
