Default Intake temperature

I run HP tuners, and was curious on a warmer day 85 deg we will say is it normal for the intake temps to be from 105-125 cruising around? Only reason I ask is because HP tuners software once its over 100 deg the little gauge turns red like its a bad thing.

Sure, that can be normal. Many of us have moved the intake air temp sensor to the grill where it sees ambient if you want the intake air temps to be lower. Can also just make sure that the PCM doesn't pull timing until above say 120*F, as long as there is no engine knock (pre-detonation) from 120*F & under. If you have a MAF w/ the intake air sensor contained (can't move it to grill), just do the timing change noted. Regardless, those numbers are about right.

It's a bad thing because you may start to pull timing (as
stock tune sits).

A good cold air setup can keep to maybe 5 degrees above
ambient. But the IAT can be "bent" by its location and the
engine bay heat. Running the fans full time helps, so does
relocation. Mine is up in the cowl vent above the PCM.
