No, you need to remove the starter and install a flywheel holding tool. Thats the correct way and only takes 5 minutes to drop the starter. You need it anyway to correctly tighten the new balancer bolt when you re-install. Or be lazy, and your next thread will be titled " Holy **** my balancer came off while I was doing 70 mph!!!!"

This is the internet...you can't use the excuse "I couldn't find the right tool" I bet there are pages full of them on ebay right this very second.

I should have phrased that differently, I couldnt find one locally and I forgot to order one so therefore I used the prybar method was it right? Nope has it worked for the past 4 different kinds cars I've done it on? Yep lol

Seriously, this is no bullshit, I been around here long enough I have read tons of threads entitled exactly what I quoted. Also, just had a buddy try the prybar method and ended up having to replace his flexplate. Pulling an auto trans is no fun on these cars anyway, I'm just trying to save someone some headache. Truth may sting a bit, but its for your own good.
