Default ls2 intake questions

ok i have no idea if this gets asked much as i havent been on here in a long time but is there much benefit if any to goin to an ls2 intake and what is need to make it work?

also what if i was to say go to a 90mm or so aftermarket throttle body and port the intake as well.

if i were to do it it would be goin on a 5.3 headed ls1 and i was just curious what all that entails.

No, get an LS6 and take it out to an 85 or 90mm opening if you are on a budget

ls6>ls2 as ls2 is made up of two or three (dont quote me on that) pieces which means there is a ton of sharp edges and plastic that inhibits the flow. ls6 is a great upgrade for those with stock ls1, even with the stock 78mm opening. Some have dipped into the 8's with a stock ls6 mani so it doesnt even need work to perform.
Do a search and you will get a lot more info as this has been debated many many times...

well i planned on porting it if i got an ls2 manifold so the sharp edges wouldnt necessarily be an issue. im just curious where my money is better spent and how close they are performance wise what about an l76 intake or somethin im open to whatever is doable for a reasonable price

The LS6 drastically outperforms the LS2 intake. But a LS2 intake is still better then a LS1 intake. So if you can get it really cheap go for it, but if your paying a decent amount for it you would be better off just spending a little more and getting a LS6

Definitely get the LS6, they are great for boosted applications.. The problem with the LS2 is their 3 piece vibration weld design, it leaks air... The L76 won't work unless you go bigger cubes & change to a rectangular port head.

you can get a BBK or weiand aluminum intake used for $ 300.they are better suited for boost.and you can remove the bottom plate on them to get in side for porting.

yea whatever intake i went with id like to port and i wanted something good for boost with a nice big opening but i didnt want anything that could harm streetability or something that is just way to damn expensive. mainly what im gettin at is i dont wanna shell out the cash for a fast intake and i dont wanna have anything that requires any bullshit or gives up any street ability such as a victor jr. or anything i want something that looks fairly factory and is reasonable to mess with such as a fast but doesnt cost a mint and can be ported if needed.

i appreciate the input guys
