Default 2.5 cutout?

Hey guys,
I found an electric cutout for cheap buts its a 2.5 in. I wanted a 3 in. originally but for the money this is hard to pass up. Obviously a 3in. would flow better but since I'm not racing or anything crazy would a 2.5 be fine?

Thanks.

I dont see why not, if you just want it for sound then go ahead. Just make sure to put it under the rear passenger seat. Although it may look kinda goofy because the stock exhaust is like 2 and 3/4 or 7/8. so your putting a smaller pipe in there with that cutout.

Well I have a headers,ORY, and a magnaflow catback right now. I'll probably go with the 2.5, I can't see a half inch

If you have that already, then I vote do it right and get a 3 inch if thats what your exhaust is. Not just for racing, but would have an overall better appearance.

thanks guys. i think im gonna go with the summit e-cutout.

also, probably a stupid question but do all cutouts have the ability to open any amount? as an example could i open the cutout only half way if i wanted? i know some solenoids only are all the way open or all the way closed.
Thanks!

The QTP can open any amount. If the button is a 1-click open/close, then no. But, if you have to hold the button to open/close, i'm going to say it will open close as much as you want. Althought on mine, the sound between half open and full open isnt much.

Hopefully I could get some feedback! I have a 98 ss with stock exhaust (single exhaust on left rear) and im looking at cut outs. Is it a 3.5 tip only right and be 2.something exhaust?
Also don't know what cut outs I should be looking at getting?
Help appreciated!
