Default Painted valve covers and coils...surprise inside

trying to get a dyno out here is like asking Texas to be cold in the summer!!! but soon i will get one, but in the meantime, i decided to paint my valve covers and my coils. now let me tell you one thing, i am so glad i did. not only did they come out amazing, it reveled a potential probelm that could have ended my motors life!!!!! one of my rockers gave up on life and another one was loose. oddly they were both on the intake side, even though my exhaust side has higher lift and more duration...

enjoy the pics

here is a picture of the rocker still on there, with the missing cap that holds the needle bearings on

here is the rocker removed, right side

left side, busted side!!!

now good thing i had some spares! i ordered 2 extra rockers when i did my heads and cam, just incase any were bad so i would not be set back any days. good thing i did. all this means that my cam is to bad *** for my rockers, guess it is time to upgrade to some Yella Terra Ultra lights!!!!!

anyway, now to the eye candy. off to the coils and valve covers enjoy!!!

i will add some pics with them on the car after i finish painting the other side. cant wait to see them, always thought the MSD blaster coils looked awesome, now you can get the reliability of the stock ones, and the look of MSD, all for about $8 of material!!!!!!!!!!!

ok here is some more pictures. got the valve covers re-installed and painted, tell me what you think!

comment if you like! still need to clean up the rest of the engine bay, like move the TCS unit and do the wire mod, then it is time to touch up the strut towers, when i remove my shocks to replace them with some new Bilsteins!

Looks good. I would have also done the bracket black to match the valve covers more, and possibly used some black loom to cover the electrical wires on the coils.

Lookin' good! I would suggest the trunion upgrade kit from Comp to cure your rocker ailments. I'd be ppretty concerned about where the rest of the rocker needles are floating in the engine though. Just something to consider.

har har. i am not that good at painting to even consider attaching the intake. just a simple clean prep and spray for the coils and valve covers. the needles were in the head, and i pulled them out. started to get a sqeak a few days ago, so think it happened then, haven't fired up the motor yet, will do today. but i think i will just go with better rollers, as i have the money for them.

It's not that difficult...clean it with degreaser then spray it with Krylon.

Do a thin coat first and after it dries come back with another one.

Don't mean to hijack, but what's that silver can next to your intake? Has a hose coming from the throttle body and another hose to the head.

It's an oil catch can. Keeps oil from entering your intake since our wonderful pcv system fails to do so.

Looks good. Yes...paint the coil brackets black as well as painting that big white coil plug black. The silver coil wires look real good when wrapped in heat tape.

Intake painting is easy, clean it, use an adhesive promoter, then Krylon away! Lookin good though, I'm a big fan of red coils.
