OK just checking. My personal belief is that GM makes a Great motor and always has. It's just I hear a lot of different things from different people and sometimes it's hard to seperate the bs if ya know what i mean.

yup.

i would think a 160 tstat doesnt necessarily mean eng. temp. are 160 especially in warmer months. especially with your AC running.

You dont have to worry in the south where you are. The ones that have to worry are up north when it gets cold. No way in hell would I be running anything but a stock stat in my car in cooler weather. Thats why some guys up here run a 160 in the summer and change it in the fall some time.
If your car runs 190-200 with a 160 stat then what is the point of having one if you can keep those same temps with the stock stat and lower fan settings? Did you want the car running cooler than what it is? Did you set the fans to work with the 160?

I may be in the south, but it can still get cold here in Mississippi. It snowed here one day last year. Temperatures drop to the 20's and 30's on cool days during the winter. Granted, it's usually in the 40's or 50's, but we see cold weather here too.

Gee I was always under the impression that a 160 degree thermostat meant that it was fully open at 160,not that it will maintain 160. Your fans will do that if they are set to and everything is operating properly. ditto on the fans run when the a/c is on.
